Berlin, Germany – Philips today launched its new
range of multimedia LCD displays, with a suite of advanced features that deliver sharp images and fast
response times for playing games and watching movies. With screen sizes ranging from 17” to 22”,
including four widescreen models, each monitor in the range provides best-ever display performance and
ultimate on-screen color accuracy through the innovative Philips PerfecTune feature.
PerfecTune
PerfecTune guarantees that each monitor undergoes extensive color adjustment and calibration testing
to ensure laboratory-quality display performance. By completing tests that are four times stricter
than those used to certify monitors for Microsoft Windows Vista, the new range represents the first
time consumers can enjoy professional LCD monitor quality of color accuracy at an affordable price.
SmartImage
The new range of Philips LCDs for 2007 also comes complete with SmartImage technology, providing
dynamic real-time adjustment of brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, and response time for
different content to deliver optimum display performance. SmartImage analyzes the content displayed
on your screen and, based on a selected scenario, dynamically enhances the contrast, color saturation
and sharpness of images or video.
Consumers can also turn on the SmartResponse function if they are in “entertainment” mode,
for ultimate display performance in real time. The monitors boast the lowest power consumption in the
industry, requiring up to 30 percent less power than competitors when the SmartImage “Economy”
mode is activated.
SmartAccessory
The Philips SmartAccessory feature, which comes as a standard with the new LCD family, uses
multifunction clips at the side of the monitor to keep the computer area clear from clutter. The
clips can hold peripherals like webcams and stationary so that they are within reach, but out of
the way.
“PerfecTune ensures that every monitor is ‘golden sample quality’ when it leaves the
factory,” says Bob Kobes, Vice President and General Manager, IT displays, Philips Consumer
Electronics. “Alongside advanced features such as SmartImage, SmartGreen and SmartAccessory,
Philips PerfecTune completely revolutionizes the way consumers view games, movies and photos.”
The Philips LCD range features a tough, halogen-free, flame-retardant plastic housing, which is
environmentally-friendly, containing no bromine or chlorine and even more stringent than RoHS
(Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standards. This material is also used by the automotive and
aerospace industries. Philips quickly integrated this material into its production processes to
ensure the LCD range is also environmental friendly in terms of recycling.
