ATI Technologies ha dato notizia della realizzazione di un nuovo chip-set destinato alla produzione di motherboard compatibili con processori centrali Intel: si tratta del nuovo Radeon Xpress 1250, che è dotato di una sezione video integrata ed è Windows Vista ready dal momento che supporta la funzionalità Aero Glass.
Il chip-set Radeon Xpress 1250 è stato concepito per supportare tutte le più recenti soluzioni tecnologiche in ambito RAM e networking. In abbinamento al chip Southbridge SB600, prodotto dalla stessa ATI, esso consente la gestione di 10 porte USB 2.0 Hi-Speed USB e 4 porte SATA II, eventualmente in configurazione RAID.
NEC ha già lanciato nel mercato nipponico il primo notebook - siglato LaVie L Advanced Type - la cui scheda madre è costruita intorno al Radeon Xpress 1250.
