GECUBE ha annunciato una nuova linea di schede grafiche - basate su processore grafico ATI - che include al momento i modelli siglati X1300 e X1600 HV (High definition Video, ndr). Si tratta di prodotti molto versatili e conformi agli standard più recenti sia in ambito ludico (supporto per la connettività CrossFire e per Shader Model 3.0) che in quello multimediale legato ad High Definition e alla esecuzione di contenuto audio/video memorizzato sui nuovi supporti Blu-ray e HD-DVD.
Le specifiche delle card che più incidono sulla risposta prestazionale con i game prevedono per entrambe una gpu prodotta in tecnologia a 90nm, 256Mb di memoria GDDR-2 e bus a 128 bit. La tecnologia ATI HyperMemory di cui sono dotate permette inoltre al controller grafico di utilizzare una parte della memoria centrale "come se" fosse allocata sul PCB. Le pixel pipeline della Radeon X1600 (cfr. foto seguente) sono in numero eguale a 12 mentre divengono 4 in presenza della X1300.
Questi prodotti sono collegabili alle HD-TV mediante il connettore HDMI e supportano High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). HDCP è un protocollo concepito per impedire la copia illegale, attraverso l’interfaccia digitale DVI, del contenuto protetto da copyright, memorizzato sui dischi HD-DVD e Blu-ray. Queste Radeon sono in grado di criptare il segnale trasmesso al televisore e di diminuirne automaticamente la risoluzione qualora verifichino che il dispositivo ricevente non sia a sua volta conforme ad HDCP ovvero autorizzato a visualizzare o registrare il segnale stesso.
