Aspyr Media, uno dei principali publisher di game per Mac, ha annunciato, in collaborazione con 2K Games e Irrational Games, che il prossimo titolo BioShock Infinite, nuovo capitolo della serie di BioShock, in grado finora di superare una quota pari a 4 milioni di copie vendute in tutto il mondo, sarà disponibile anche in edizione per Mac.
In accordo a Aspyr Media, che si occuperà del porting, il lancio della Mac Edition di BioShock Infinite avrà luogo nel corso della prossima estate; osserviamo inoltre che le altre tre edizioni del game, dedicate rispettivamente alle piattaforme di gioco Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 e Xbox 360, saranno disponibili a partire dal prossimo 26 marzo.
Il first-person shooter BioShock Infinite è basato sul motore grafico Unreal Engine 3; rappresenta il terzo capitolo della serie di BioShock, di cui riprende alcuni aspetti del gameplay e da cui, tuttavia, si discosta per quanto concerne la trama, non essendo questo titolo connesso in questo senso con i due precedenti.
Aspyr Media, in partnership with 2K Games and Irrational Games, announced today that BioShock Infinite, the sequel to the award-winning BioShock which has sold over 4 million units worldwide, will be coming to the Mac in Summer 2013. Developed by Irrational Games and brought to the Mac by Aspyr, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.
Set in 1912, players assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. During their daring escape, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond – one that lets Booker augment his own abilities with her world-altering control over the environment. Together, they fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

With the original BioShock, Irrational Games won "Game of the Year" awards from Game Informer, IGN, G4's X-Play, and BAFTA and redefined what players expect from a first-person shooter. Bioshock Infinite has won over 75 editorial awards, including the Game Critics Awards’ Best of Show during E3 2011.
