AMD ha lanciato ufficialmente oggi la video card denominata AMD FirePro W600, la prima soluzione professionale dell'azienda statunitense basata sull'architettura proprietaria a 28nm di nuova generazione Graphics Core Next (GCN) e progettata per offrire prestazioni di primo piano nell'ambito multi-monitor, potendo vantare il supporto della tecnologia AMD Eyefinity, ben nota anche nel mercato consumer.
La AMD FirePro W600, pur essendo una scheda video di tipo single-slot, può gestire simultaneamente fino a un massimo di sei monitor, o proiettori, con l'ausilio di altrettanti connettori di tipo DisplayPort 1.2, ampliando una offerta che in questo ambito già include, nel catalogo di Advanced Micro Devices, le soluzioni ATI FirePro 2460, AMD FirePro 2270, AMD FirePro V7900 e ATI FirePro V9800.
La nuova video card, che include 2GB di memoria RAM di tipo G-DDR5, può eseguire contemporaneamente la decodifica di due stream video in HD in virtù della dotazione della tecnologia proprietaria Unified Video Decoder, ottimizzando peraltro in tempo reale il consumo di potenza con la tecnologia AMD ZeroCore Power.

AMD today announced immediate availability of the AMD FirePro W600 professional graphics card, the company’s first professional graphics card to leverage AMD’s Graphics Core Next architecture and 28nm production technology, for use in high-resolution, content-rich, multi-screen display wall environments. The AMD FirePro W600 Professional Graphics card includes: - Support for up to six high-resolution displays or projectors from a single-slot card and six mini DisplayPort connectors;
- 2 GB of GDDR5 graphics memory for superior multimedia performance;
- Support for two HD video streams via AMD’s Unified Video Decoder;
- Projection overlap capability to create one seamless image, with planned support for projection edge blending and image warping in Q4 of 2012;
- AMD PowerTune technology that dynamically optimizes power consumption during operation and AMD ZeroCore Power technology that provides reduced power consumption at idle
All AMD FirePro professional graphics solutions for display walls are designed for multi-screen configurations that require the highest visual quality, reliability and multimedia application performance.
