Con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, ZOTAC ha annunciato la video card di fascia alta GeForce GTX 580 AMP²! Edition, che il maker definisce come la più performante delle soluzioni a gpu unica presenti nel proprio catalogo di schede grafiche.
Il conseguimento di un simile obiettivo è stato reso possibile dal ricorso a una configurazione "factory-overclocked"; il core grafico della gpu GeForce GTX 580 di NVIDIA lavora infatti a 815MHz, le 512 unità shader in essa incluse a 1630MHz e la memoria locale a 4100 MHz. Per fissare le idee, i corrispondenti valori previsti dal design reference della GTX 580 sono invece pari rispettivamente a 772MHz, 1544MHz e 4008MHz.
Inoltre, Zotac ha raddoppiato la dimensione della memoria G-DDR5 on board, che è infatti pari a 3GB nel caso della GeForce GTX 580 AMP²! Edition e a 1.5GB nel caso della GeForce GTX 580 reference; il bus di collegamento tra core grafico e RAM resta naturalmente a 384-bit mentre il kit di porte di uscita include due dual-link DVI-I e una mini-HDMI.
La stabilizzazione termica dell'hardware è affidata a un cooler custom, equipaggiato con heat-pipe e due ventole da 92mm. Zotac promette la possibilità di giocare con i più recenti game basati sulle API DirectX 11 di Microsoft impostando al massimo il dettaglio grafico e con risoluzioni video fino a 2560x1600.
