Per sottolineare la propria supremazia nel comparto dei processori grafici DirectX 11 Ready, AMD ha reso noto, con il comunicato stampa di seguito allegato, di aver già fornito ai propri partner tecnologici (tipicamente card maker che realizzano le proprie soluzioni grafiche a partire da una gpu AMD, ndr) circa due milioni di chip grafici pienamente compatibili con le librerie DirectX 11.
In accordo al chip maker, questo traguardo è stato raggiunto ad appena tre mesi di distanza dal lancio della gamma di gpu ATI Radeon HD 5800, la prima in casa AMD e in assoluto a supportare le API di Windows 7. Il dato è senza dubbio significativo, anche perchè il processo produttivo dei nuovi processori grafici ha creato non pochi problemi nella fase di startup del proprio camminio, determinando inevitabilmente una limitazione nel dimensionamento delle scorte.
Jon Peddie, fondatore e presidente della quasi omonima agenzia che effettua ricerche di mercato "Jon Peddie Research", ha inoltre osservato che essere l'unico player nel mercato dei chip DirectX 11 ha assicurato ad AMD un sostanziale vantaggio anche nel campo delle prestazioni pure, dal momento che tutti i primi giochi DirectX 11 Ready sono stati realizzati utilizzando come base per lo sviluppo e i test le video card Radeon.
