PLDS (Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions), la joint venture tra Royal Philips Electronics e Lite-On IT, ha prodotto un nuovo drive per supporti Blu-ray. Si tratta del player interno iHOS104, che è stato commercializzato con l'ausilio del brand di Lite-On, unitamente al software TrueTheater HD di CyberLink, al fine di garantire la riproduzione su ottimi livelli dei filmati in High Definition.

iHOS104, mediante una interfaccia verso il mondo di tipo Serial ATA, legge i dati dai dischi Blu-ray con una velocità massima pari a 4X, dai DVD con velocità massima di 8X e dai CD con velocità massima di 32X.

Il punto di forza di questo drive è senza dubbio l'MSRP, pari a $69.99, il che rende l'iHOS104 una delle migliori soluzioni in commercio in termini di rapporto qualità/prezzo, capace di offrire ai sistemi mainstream per costo e prestazioni il playback HD.
